Looks and the Emporium

The Emporium sells looks: frames, titles, outfits, desk pieces and companions. They change how you appear, never what you can do.

Last checked Category Gold and the Store

The Emporium is Vesper City's looks shop. Dressed for the part, never stronger for it: a look changes how you appear, never what you can do. No look gives stats, XP, Respect, Luck, cash, Gold, heat relief or happiness.

Finding the Emporium

  • Open Gold → Looks. In the Graphical view, walk into the Emporium on The Strip: the glass showcase holds the sets, the tailor's dummies the outfits, the cash counter the everyday looks, and at the long mirror you put your looks on or take them off.
  • The Emporium opens its doors to you at level 5.

What's on show

  • Identity: profile frames and banners, name effects (a soft glow, or your name engraved like a brass nameplate), titles and calling cards. The Vesper Portrait Pack is here too (see below).
  • Share cards: borders for the cards you share.
  • Outfits and trinkets: hats, coats, scarves, gloves, watches, cufflinks, shoes and canes.
  • Desk and companions: a gramophone, a globe, a lamp, a clock, a picture for the wall, and a companion such as a black cat.
  • Moments: stamp styles for your results.

You wear one look per place at a time (one frame, one hat, one companion and so on). Put looks on or take them off from your Looks, whenever you like.

Sets

A set is a whole outfit, sold together at about 15% off the pieces' summed price. Pieces you already own are left out, so you only pay for what you don't have yet. A set gives nothing extra: it's only the pieces.

The cash counter

Everyday looks have a twin sold for game cash at the Emporium's cash counter. Prices follow what a day's work brings in at your level, so they feel the same at every level. Sets and the rarer pieces are sold for Gold only.

Prices and paying

  • Every Gold price also shows what it is worth in real money, so you always know what you're spending.
  • Anything above 500 Gold asks you to tick a box first, so nothing big is bought by a slip of the finger.
  • The Vesper Portrait Pack lists its six faces before you buy. Once it's yours, choose your new face on the Account page (see Founders, earned titles and portraits for the faces you earn by playing).

Yours for good

A bought look is yours for good. It can't be sold, traded, given away or put on the Bazaar. Each look in your Looks says how you got it: bought for Gold, bought for cash, part of a set, or a gift from the staff. If a look was bought with Gold from a payment that has since been refunded, it is put on hold while staff look into it, and it can't be worn until then.

Your own Gold limit

You can set a monthly Gold limit on the Account page: the most Gold you want to spend in a month. It covers every Gold spend in the game, not just looks.

  • A lower limit works at once. A higher one, or none, starts 24 hours later.
  • If a purchase would take you over your limit, it is stopped and you're told how much you have left this month.
  • Your Gold spending is listed under Your orders, next to your purchases.

For where Gold comes from and what else it buys, see Gold and the store. What others see on your profile is in Your profile and privacy.
