Respect and medals

What Respect is, how you earn it, what it buys in Perks, and how medals reward the things you do over time.

Respect and medals

Two things measure how far you have come in Vesper City besides your level: Respect, which you spend, and medals, which you keep.

What Respect is

Respect (shown as RP) is your personal standing money. You earn it on the street and spend it on permanent perks. Nobody can buy it: it never comes from the Gold Store, and Gold can't buy perks either.

Your gang has a Respect of its own, kept in a separate ledger for gang levels. Respect you earn does not go into your gang's, and your gang's never goes into yours. See Gangs.

How you earn Respect

  • Crimes: a successful crime pays some Respect, more for bigger crimes (see Crimes). A failure pays none.
  • Fights: beating another player pays 3 RP between equals, more for beating someone above your level and less for someone far below. Rivals pay Respect on a win too (see Fights).
  • Breaking someone out of jail: 2 RP for a successful breakout (see Jail and hospital).
  • Family contracts at the Social Club: 2 RP for each task, up to 20 RP a week. The cap resets on Monday, and the cash is still paid after you reach it.
  • Daily rewards and medals: some days of your daily streak and most medal steps pay a little Respect.
  • Living in Little Sicily: its resident perk adds a bit more Respect from crimes and fights, up to 25 extra a day (see Districts and travel).

What Respect buys: Perks

Open You → Perks to spend it. Each perk is bought once, lasts for good, and asks for a minimum level and a price in Respect:

  • Between them they give better crime odds, more damage in fights, bigger crime payouts, shorter hospital stays, a cheaper way out of jail, better gym gains and less time in jail.

The page shows how much you have to spend, and the button is greyed out until you can afford the perk and have reached its level. There is no refund, so choose with care. The perks that cut jail or hospital time share a limit with every other cut (donator status, your home district), so stacking them has a ceiling: see Jail and hospital.

Medals

You → Medals lists every medal. A medal is given to you automatically, once, when something you do over your whole career passes a mark: crimes committed, fights won, days worked, money banked and many more. Medals can't be lost.

  • Medals come in families, such as one for fights won. Each family climbs through the steps Bronze, Silver and Gold. Some start lower with Copper, and counts that can grow without end carry on past Gold into Iron, the highest of all.
  • Every medal pays a one-off cash reward set by its tier: Copper $250, Bronze $500, Silver $2,000, Gold $5,000 and Iron $10,000. Each step of a family also pays a little Respect, a bit more for each step: step one 2 RP, step two 5 RP, step three 10 RP, a fourth step 20 RP, and Iron 40 RP.
  • Some medals are one-off honours rather than climbing steps, and a few are just for being there, such as for beta testers and original members. They pay the cash of their tier like any other medal. The Vote for us medals are for show and pay nothing.
  • A medal's own page shows how it is earned, the steps, your progress and how rare it is.

Medals never give power: no extra damage, no Gold, no luck. They are bragging rights with a small reward on the way. Your newest medals and a showcase of your best sit on your profile, and you can hide any single medal from it; a hidden medal still counts for you.

Tips

  • Spend Respect on the perk that fits how you play, since perks can't be undone.
  • The Social Club's contracts are a steady, safe source of Respect each week.
  • Check You → Medals now and then: the next step of a family tells you what to aim for.
