Events and promotions

From time to time the city throws something special: a weekend of double experience, a holiday edition, a sale. These are events. You find the current ones under Social → Events.

What an event can include

Staff mix and match these for each event:

  • Bonuses: for example more experience, better crime payouts or bigger gains at the gym, for as long as the event runs. They apply to everybody automatically; there is nothing to switch on.
  • A seasonal look: the game wears a new accent colour and a themed masthead (an Easter or Halloween edition, say) while the event lasts.
  • Missions: short goals that only count while the event runs, such as winning a number of fights or committing a number of crimes. Each mission has a progress bar and a reward.
  • Store offers: discounts or bonus Gold on the Store while the event runs (see Gold and the store).
  • Special rivals: some opponents turn up only for the event.
  • A notice when it starts, so you won't miss it.

Missions and rewards

  • A mission counts only what you do while the event is running, and it starts counting when the event begins, whatever you did before.
  • A finished mission can be claimed from the event's page. Rewards are cash, Respect and sometimes an item, never Gold (Gold only comes from buying it).
  • Cash rewards grow with your level: everyone gets the same share of a day's income for their level, so a mission means as much at level 5 as at level 100. The event page shows what you would get.
  • You can still claim for a few days after an event ends, but only what you finished while it ran. Claim before the grace period is over, or it is gone.
  • Each mission can be claimed once.

Tips

  • Look at Social → Events when you sign in; the active ones are on top.
  • Bonuses are not retroactive: do the work while the event is on.
  • Events are announced in the paper too (see The Evening Racket).
